Life Drawing!

I did some life drawing last night at the local community center. I really like drawing with the brush end of Tombow markers on regular sketch paper. It lets me go over the drawings again by placing a sheet on top of my rough sketch -- not quite as thin as tracing paper but I'm able to see the drawing without using a lightbox.
Usually I work the drawing again traditionally but every now and then I'll play with the lines and go for something a little less literal (the drawing with purple was an attempt to do this).

Hi! I'm a subscriber of your RSS feed for quite some time and I always enjoy your posts but this time you blew my mind with those beautiful drawings you posted today! Keep up the good work!

I like the way you construct the figure. When I see Your works I do realise how small amount of freedom my drawings have.

André - Thanks so much. Glad to hear you liked my drawings.

Bigulebu - Thank you. It's taken a long time for me to feel comfortable enough to loose with my drawings. Even still it's a challenge. Something that has made it easier is to draw directly in marker. Big, fat, juicy markers :) Make a mess!

I'm a tad confused...and it may make you a bit irritated or even angry to have me ask this but...

When I see the images...are you redrawing some of them or are you refining what you've already done.

I'm not quite sure what your process is here or exactly what you're doing in each pic.

Jubell - :) Never be afraid to ask questions! That's my philosophy, anyway...

I'll use the last three drawings in my post to explain what I'm doing. The first is the drawing I did as the model sat for the pose. It's as you see, colored marker on sketch paper. I then take a second sheet of paper placed on top of the first - with the original drawing visible faintly through the paper I then draw again, refining my lines and making little changes as I go.

In the end there are three separate drawings on three separate sheets of paper.

Hope that helps.

best,

The face in the corner of the one fourth from the bottom is amazing.

I like them all, but this is absolutely my favourite :D

I like Tombo markers - but find I work better in Copics - I love how easy it is to blend the colours of them.
