Guy a Day! Finishing up July!

Today is the first day of Fall and I can't think of a more fitting way to celebrate than by posting the final Guys from the days of July! Think summery thoughts!

best,

I love the way that the Cake guy has his pinky lifted. And the bag with the tissue, that you know he made all on his ownsome. I bet the shirt is some pastel color as well.

I just hope that the puddle isn't portending some horrible ending (since he seems to be looking the wrong way on a busy street.

I was hoping that your July would never end, but seeing the guy on the bench in the hooded sweatshirt foretells the inevitable. The season's even beginning to change here in So. California. Even though we can have some hot days in Sept. and Oct. it's not the same as Summer.

Makes me wonder where you'll get inspiration for your drawings. Last year you were still finishing out the Signs of The Zodiac. What's next? Characters from fiction and mythology? Guess I'm still trying to get you to make good on that week of loincloths. Hey can you blame me? When you can finish out with four great poses like these anything's possible. I know we'll all be waiting to see what springs from your pencil.

Javier - Not to worry...pinky Cake made it to the party safely. The puddle is simply that we had a very rainy summer in T.O. I love that you always notice the details, Javier.
You're in San Diego, yes? I'm just trying to puzzle out your comment "...he seems to be looking the wrong way..." He's looking left which is the direction traffic would be coming on North American roads. If you were in the UK I could see the confusion...?

Musclsvg - Ha ha! You're right. The guy in the hoody is premature were I actually drawing these guys in July. Hmm...perhaps he should be re-dated and a more summer July 28th drawn up.
I admit it was going to be difficult to draw men in loincloths given that the Guy a Day mandate is to draw everyday sort of men. Often I'm tempted to go into Fantasy or Sci-Fi with the guys but that's not the challenge.
Perhaps the men in loincloths will just have to be a pin-up drawing all of their own. A gathering of the loins!

Yeah, Loin Rangers!

That was a fun, if extended July. I hope you'll do it again next year.

Hey if you're willing I'd be more than happy to see a make-good on July 28th's drawing. Another Olympic swimmer or diver would be great! And, don't feel pressured about a week's worth of loincloths. I'm sure your fanbase would accept g-strings and posing pouchs as well.

I guess by "the wrong way", i just meant that he was sweetly looking intently in the direction away from which whatever horrible thing was coming.

I am so glad he made it to the party, but to me it seemed as if it was a smaller first anniversary celebration.

He is such a romantic.

Francois - The "Loin Rangers"! That's great! I was thinking "The Roar of the Loins" or perhaps a "Loin in Winter".
Side note, there's a restaurant in town, a classy joint with a misprint in their menu. They advertise a "New York Striplion". I've never eaten Lion but I'm curious to know if it tastes gamey.

Musclsvg - How about small washcloths and short towels? And maybe a few small bathing suits...:)

Javier - I see now. And who's anniversary was he on his way to celebrate? I'm curious to know if they all get stories. I know I've got a story for each...I think I'd have a hard time drawing if I didn't create some kind of story behind each image. However simple that story may be.

You can use "Loin Rangers". If you draw them :)

That reminds me of Alan Moore's sci-fi/parody short story in 2000AD titled The Clone Ranger. His horse was, I think, named Chromium.

Aren't we straying from the subject of loincloths? Can you see Mike Henry ruling the jungle in a small washcloth, short towel or brief bathing suit? When I suggested g-strings or posing straps I meant a garment that didn't necessarily have flaps like a breechcloth. Just something to cover, support and display the package. What a primitive or wildman would wear to all but cover his "homo erectus".

Of course they ALL get stories.

Its his own anniversary. The cake is from the bakery/coffee shop where they first met. It has two cupcakes in it. The bag has an assortment of little chocolates, glitter, a small meaningful gift, and something that will brake if the bag is put down wrong.

The sneakers are new. He just showered. He loves the pants because they are a bit too long for him and he likes the way they break at his ankles... and he puts fabric softener in to wash his baby blue shirt because he likes it to be nice and soft.

Yes he is gay, perhaps not to bright, but very happy with his planning for the day. Cause it is all going just right, so far.
